First Australian School Photo
by Mike250 on October 21st, 2007 in Family

We recently received Nevan’s School Photo’s and are most pleased with them. As soon as I saw the class photo I felt transported back in time; I was immediately having a flashbacks to my days in school. I love class photo’s, I like being able to look at them and amaze at how much someone changes over the years. I like the memories, even the bad ones. It all makes up who you are. From my experience they don’t really do class photo’s each year in the States like they do here in Australia. Perhaps it was the school’s Nevan attended but they never did class photo’s in Kindergarten in Colorado nor 1st Grade in California.

Man of the match
by Mike250 on October 14th, 2007 in Cricket

Third game in the top division, and picked up man of the match in this one. It was also my first 2-day game since I played cricket as an under-15 way back in 1990 something. For those not in the know, it’s 90 overs each day and the one difference I see here is you pretty much are forced to declare at the end of 90 overs if you are still batting. I don’t see how you can have four completed innings in two days but we had a couple in the league this weekend.

First Grade - Round Two
by Mike250 on October 9th, 2007 in Cricket

We lost after weather adversely affected our run chase, they spelled my name wrong but in the end I had a decent outing again. Newspaper clipping attached.

Basically we started in pretty shocking fashion with a host of wides giving Wollongong the chance to establish themselves at about six runs per over at the first drinks break. By the 2nd break they were well on their way to scoring 300. We pulled them back and fought beautifully to knock them over for a gettable 220.

First Grade Debut
by Mike250 on October 1st, 2007 in Cricket

Looking back at my first grade debut I have nothing to complain about and areas to improve on. That’s probably the ideal start as I already have in my mind things I want to work on this week. The team traveled to a very picturesque Port Kembla oval to take on last years lowest ranked team. I was impressed with the surroundings as I could see the ocean from the pitch. I don’t have much history but I believe both clubs are in rebuilding stages and would like to think both clubs should have come back pretty satisfied that things are improving.

Selected for First Grade
by Mike250 on October 1st, 2007 in Cricket

I’m pleased to announce that I was selected for 1st Grade in the Northern Districts Cricket Club for the opening game of the season this Saturday. I was certain I was starting in 2nd Grade after having a chat with one of the senior players and was actually fine with that. I’d like to find my feet in Australian cricket and thought 2nd Grade might be the way to go.

I must have done something right in training and now find myself slightly intimidated but ready for the challenge of 1st Grade. Here’s to having some fun.
