World Champion Half Life DMC Player
That’s right! Last week, I was ranked #1 out of everyone in the world who plays Half Life DMC. What is Half Life DMC?
It’s a Quake mod for Half Life. Exactly like the original quake, except for much better graphics! The gameplay is fast and furious, you kill quickly or be killed quickly, and often. The goal is to obtain the Rocket Launcher and make sure you hold on to it. Then, grab plenty of armour and health and find the Quad Damage ring. With this, you do four times the damage as a normal shot, quickly murdering everyone in the vicinity.

Back when I lived in Australia my older brother-in-law and I used to get together for Doom II death matches. We’d hook up with two mates, LAN our 4 PCs together and play until the early hours of the morning. One of my mates, a software programmer by trade, was always particularly lethal and his toon always had the Green Armor. He was so deadly that you’d often turn and run just at the sight of his Green Marine. Then Quake came out and I began playing it, death match style, with bots that got smarter the more you killed them. It was a while between our Doom II death matches so I racked up many hours slaughtering these Quake bots, and getting killed in return. When the night of our next Doom II death match finally arrived nobody was prepared for the slaughter that was about to happen, not even me. I honestly didn’t realize how good I’d become until the score board appeared after that first 10 minute match, and I saw I had more Frags than everyone else combined. I used to be a camper but you can’t do that in Quake, not against the Bots. You have to play aggressively to win and so my whole playing style had changed for the better, well, better for me. Not so good for the brother-in-law and mates
