Our campsite at the Big 4 Shoalhaven Heads Village

ANZAC Day Family Camping at Shoalhaven Heads

With Liamโ€™s birthday party barely wrapped up, we packed the car and headed straight into our next family adventure, a long weekend camping trip to Shoalhaven Heads. This was our base for the ANZAC Day holiday, and what a perfect choice it turned out to be.

Setting up camp

We stayed at the BIG4 Shoalhaven Heads Holiday Park, which offered us the ideal mix of nature and comfort. The campsite was clean and spacious, giving us enough room to spread out and enjoy our new camping table and chairs. There is something very satisfying about setting up your own patch of ground, with the tent up and the Landcruiser parked beside it, ready for anything.

One of the highlights was simply sitting together for breakfast in the crisp morning air, a fresh brew in hand, and Hayden getting cuddles from Jenifer as the day slowly warmed.

Fun for the kids

This Big 4 park really shines when it comes to keeping the kids entertained. Nevan, Liam, and Hayden wasted no time finding the jumping pillow, which quickly became a daily tradition. They also spent time at the playground and tried their hand at mini golf and the half tennis court.

We were impressed by how well the facilities were maintained. From the camp kitchen and BBQ areas to the solar heated pool and aquatic playground, everything was clean, welcoming, and designed with families in mind. Even the cinema area gave us a great wind-down space after a day of running around.

Perfectly positioned

What really set this park apart was its location. Just a short stroll to Seven Mile Beach, and with easy access to the Shoalhaven River, we were surrounded by natural beauty. Whether it was a riverside walk, a beachside picnic, or simply admiring the sunset, there was always something to enjoy.

For those wanting to explore more of the region, the park makes a great launchpad for day trips. Jervis Bay, known for its stunning white sand beaches, is not far away. There are also local wineries, cafes, and restaurants scattered around the Shoalhaven, perfect for a relaxed afternoon outing.

A weekend to remember

This camping trip was everything we needed. A bit of adventure, a lot of family time, and a good chance to reset. We took plenty of photos of the kids laughing, the tent being set up, meals shared, and quiet moments together.

It reminded us just how special a simple getaway can be when the setting is right and the company even better. We will definitely be returning to Shoalhaven Heads for more family memories in the future.
