On a recent road trip through country New South Wales, we had the chance to experience something completely new - our first ever stay in a tiny house. Tucked away near the village of Willow Tree, this off-grid Airbnb getaway was the perfect blend of comfort, clever design, and natural serenity. And if this stay was anything to go by, it certainly won’t be our last!
Set on a peaceful 100-acre property, the home was deceptively spacious, beautifully appointed, and incredibly well thought-out. From quality linen and thoughtful touches in the fridge to an excellent kitchen and surprisingly roomy shower, it had everything we needed for a cosy yet elevated experience. The eco-friendly green composting toilet even became a quirky talking point.
Evenings were spent BBQing on the deck, glass of wine in hand, as the sun dipped below the hills and kangaroos hopped through the paddocks beyond. That moment - watching the dusk settle, feeling the breeze, and knowing we were completely unplugged - was pure magic.
The next morning, over a sizzling barbecue breakfast, we were greeted by curious kangaroos who ventured up close to the house, as if checking in on their new neighbours. It was one of those rare mornings where devices stayed off and nature was the only thing on the schedule.
The nearby village of Willow Tree offered a handful of charming cafes and the highly regarded Graze Restaurant, adding a touch of country hospitality to the mix. Despite being just minutes from the highway, the location felt blissfully remote.
To top it off, when our gas bottle ran out mid-cook, our host Cheryl drove out immediately to replace it; above-and-beyond service that made the experience all the more memorable.
If you’re considering a tiny house escape, this one should be at the top of your list. Tranquil, thoughtful, and full of charm, it’s the kind of stay that lingers in your memory long after you’ve packed the car.
