Jenifer Doig and Hayden - Fishing and Camping Narooma

New Year Camping Adventure in Narooma, NSW

To welcome the New Year, we packed the car, grabbed the gear, and set off for a family camping trip in Narooma, NSW, joined by a great group of friends.

Disconnected from the world - no internet, no screens, no distractions - it was the perfect escape. And frankly, with Australia losing the Boxing Day Test and staring down the barrel of an Ashes defeat, disconnecting felt like a blessing in disguise.

Over the course of the week, Narooma delivered in every way: days on the beach, prawning and fishing adventures, shared meals, and plenty of laughs around the campsite. The kids ran free, made new friends from all over the country, and soaked up the kind of summer fun that doesnโ€™t need a charger or Wi-Fi.

We caught the New Yearโ€™s Eve fireworks lighting up the sky, capping off a week that was full of joy, connection, and memories that will last a lifetime.

One of the more memorable moments? Watching little Hayden try to help set up the tent. In one of the first photos below, youโ€™ll catch his expression as he accidentally whacked his fingers with the hammer - equal parts heartbreak and cuteness. He was quickly scooped up for comforting cuddles (and probably a marshmallow bribe).

Camping has a way of slowing life down just enough to savour the small things: toasted marshmallows, sandy feet, early morning swims, and kidsโ€™ laughter echoing through the trees. Weโ€™re already looking forward to our next trip.
