With a work trip planned for the UK, Louise and I decided to time it perfectlyโaligning it with her journey home to Scotland. She flew out from Sydney ahead of me for a wedding and some well-earned family time, while I joined her halfway through for an epic tour across England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Ireland.
But firstโLondon.
We stayed in Camden, a place bursting with energy, character, and of course, legendary markets. Wandering through the stalls, grabbing bites from street vendors, and soaking in the eclectic vibe, we quickly fell in love with the area. Naturally, a few pints were in orderโmy first-ever beer in England was officially consumed at The Camden Eye.
One evening was particularly specialโI caught up with my great mate and colleague, Olly Scott, for drinks at POLPO in London. Weโve worked together at William Hill for some time now, bonding over data, England vs. Australia banter, andโof courseโcricket. An old colleague, Michelle, whoโs now with William Hill UK, also joined us for the night. Great company, great conversation, and an all-round fantastic evening.
Below are just a few snapshots of Camdenโits streets, markets, and moments. Iโd have loved to spend more time in London, but we were already gearing up for the next legโScotland.
At the end of this adventure, Iโll be heading to Yorkshire for several weeks to work alongside our Data Engineering Architect on a major project. Itโs shaping up to be an incredible 5-6 weeks, though the hardest part will be missing the kids. Thankfully, video calls will keep us connected until we return as a family to experience it all together.
Hereโs to the journey ahead!
